Scam Jam will happen in Florence, Newport, Lincoln City and Astoria
Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum will join members of the Oregon Department of Justice, the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services and AARP Oregon for a Coastal Scam Jam Tour next week (July 23-26, 2019) in Florence, Newport, Lincoln City and Astoria, Oregon. These four educational fraud prevention workshops are free and open to members of the public. Registration is required.
Consumers lose billions of dollars to frauds and scams each year. And, studies show the hardest hit are often older adults. To help prevent fraud, the Oregon Department of Justice offers annual Scam Jams in communities around the state. Scam Jams offer practical advices about scams and schemes including:
- Insurance and investment fraud
- Online and door-to-door scams
- Identity theft
- Other scams targeting older consumers.
