Sadly, in times of crisis or emergency, there are individuals who seek to exploit others for their own personal financial gain. Criminals prey on fear and emotion and individuals’ desires to protect themselves, their families, and their communities.
Scammers have devised numerous methods for defrauding people in connection with COVID-19. From setting up websites to sell bogus products to using fake emails, texts, and social media posts as a trick to steal consumers’ money and personal identification, the schemes vary widely.
From the comfort of your home or office, you can join experts from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Oregon Attorney General’s Office, and Oregon Consumer Justice to learn more about the latest fraud schemes to watch for and how to protect yourself and your loved ones.
You will hear from:
* Justin Baxter, Oregon Consumer Justice
* Billy J. Williams, U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon
* Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum
* Scott Bradford, Deputy Criminal Chief, United States Attorney’s Office
To participate, dial (855)-756-7520 Ext.60478#.
