AG Rayfield Expresses Concern Over DOGE Access to Treasury Payment System

I am deeply concerned about recent developments regarding Elon Musk’s involvement in accessing sensitive U.S. Treasury data—including the personal and private information of millions of Oregonians. This specifically is targeting the department’s payment system, which sends out money on behalf of the entire federal government.

The fact that Musk’s team, called The Department of Government Efficiency, has access to the Treasury’s payment system is alarming.  DOGE is not a government department, but a team within the Trump administration. Musk is not an elected official and is using his celebrity status to push through his personal agenda—one that is harmful to people and organizations that rely on the federal payments.

We’re looking into any and all legal options to ensure the rights of Oregonians, and all Americans, are safeguarded. We also encourage federal regulators to thoroughly investigate any potential risks to national security, and hold all parties involved to the highest standard of the law.
