Description
Intended participants: Victim advocates working in system and community-based agencies, as well as allied professionals working with crime victims. Preference will be given to these individuals.
PLEASE NOTE: Persons working for CASAs and CACs should register for the training specific to those categories as this training is not designed for work with those fields. Please reach out to Sara.L.Hoffman@doj.oregon.gov for more information or about a CASA training.
Learn more about Oregon’s Crime Victims’ Compensation (CVC) Program. CVC works to ease the financial burden suffered by hundreds of Oregonians each year as a result of violent person crimes. This training includes information about program eligibility and benefits, the application process and how payments are handled. Participants will be introduced to the CVCP Client Portal with instructions on how to register, submit an application and upload documents.
Details regarding remote access to the training will be provided in advance of the training.
REQUIRED PRE-WORK: The CVC Primer, a free online course that provides basic information about CVC eligibility and benefits, is required pre-work for this “Introduction to the Crime Victims’ Compensation Program” training. The course is offered through Oregon iLearn and takes between 30-45 minutes to complete. In order to successfully complete the primer, you must answer eight out of ten final exam questions correctly. Click here for instructions on setting up your account and accessing the course. Once you’ve finished the primer, follow the instructions to save and email your certificate to cvssd@doj.oregon.gov (subject line: CVC Primer Certificate). This should be done at least 24-hours prior to your scheduled in-person training. Participants who have completed the primer and attended the “Introduction to the Crime Victims’ Compensation” in-person training will receive a final certificate of completion, which is needed to meet the CVC training requirements listed in our grant agreements.
Please contact us if you register for the training, but will not be able to attend. Sara.L.Hoffman@doj.oregon.gov
The training is free of charge.
Registration deadline is August 5, 2020.
This training is offered regularly throughout the year. For a full list of scheduled CVC training dates, please visit: https://www.doj.state.or.us/crime-victims/training-opportunities/training-highlights/.
