The Oregon Department of Justice consumer protection programs help keep you safe from scams by:
- helping consumers.
- If you have a consumer-related question, concern or complaint, call the Attorney General’s Consumer Hotline at 1-877-877-9392. It is a free resource staffed by volunteers ready to help. You can also use the Consumer Complaints Database » to find previous complaints against companies.
- preventing fraud.
- Our outreach coordinator speaks to groups throughout the state, including senior centers, local fairs, radio talk shows and community gatherings. To schedule a presentation or order consumer protection materials, call 1-877-877-9392.
- enforcing Oregon consumer protection laws.
- The Unlawful Trade Practices Act prohibits many practices, most of them involving some form of deception or misrepresentation by the seller, and Attorney General is the primary enforcer of this law.
Our work is funded with money recovered from companies caught breaking the law. Our efforts to protect Oregonians do not cost taxpayers a dime.
