The Oregon State Victim Assistance Basic Academy (Basic Academy) provides fundamental education for victim service providers and allied professionals who routinely interact with victims of crime. The Basic Academy will require online distance learning on select dates in January and February, in addition to in-person learning from February 12-15, 2018. The Basic Academy is designed for advocates who are new to victim services. The curriculum includes sessions that cover the core competencies of victim advocacy taught by local advocacy experts.…

This training includes information about program eligibility and benefits, the application process and how payments are handled. This 3 1/2 day, comprehensive training teaches the Oregon Interviewing Guidelines Forensic Interview Structure, which is designed to gather the greatest amount of reliable information in a child-sensitive, developmentally-appropriate, and legally-defensible manner. The Oregon Child Forensic Interview Training is evidence-based, supported by current research, and approved by the National Children’s Alliance to meet the Forensic Interview Training Standards. This training is typically attended by Center-Based child forensic interviewers, Law Enforcement, and DHS professionals.

Featuring an ensemble cast of highly-experienced instructors, this week-long training is designed to fulfill the state training requirements for domestic and sexual violence victim advocates.
