Before you get a mortgage, a credit card, or any other loan, read the fine print. What are the terms of the offer? Will your interest rate rise after the first year? Will your interest rate rise if you miss one payment? What is the annual percentage rate (APR)? Know what you are signing up for before you sign on the dotted line.
Each year, a financial institution must send its customers a privacy notice. It is usually mailed in the same envelope as a monthly statement. This privacy notice will detail the financial institution's privacy policy. If the financial institution shares your information with companies not affiliated with it, the notice will give you instructions on how you can opt-out of this sharing of information.
